Anatomy of the page

Seven elements in every landing page we design

Each element has one job in the visitor journey from the ad to the enquiry.

  1. 01

A headline that finishes the ad

The first line repeats what the ad promised, so the visitor knows within seconds they are in the right place.

  2. 02

One image or video of the product

A single clear view of the product or service in use, instead of a generic picture that says nothing.

  3. 03

    Three benefits, not twenty features

What changes for the customer after buying, written in their words rather than in specifications.

  4. 04

    Real social proof

Reviews, client names and figures that can be verified. What cannot be proven is left out.

  5. 05

A short explanation that answers the objection

One passage that shows how the service works and answers the question that stops a visitor from enquiring.

  6. 06

    A short form

We ask only for what is needed to reply. Every extra field lowers the number of people who finish.

  7. 07

    One call to action

One button repeated in the same words, with no navigation menu and no links that lead away from the page.

The short guide

Landing page design guide: from ad click to qualified lead

Landing page vs website homepage: which one should your ads point to?

A homepage introduces the whole company. It has a menu, several services and a dozen directions a visitor can take, which is right for someone who is exploring. A landing page does the opposite: it is built for one audience, one offer and one action, such as booking a call, requesting a quote, signing up or buying. The landing page vs website question usually comes down to whether the visitor arrived with a specific promise already in mind.

If you pay for the click, the answer is almost always a dedicated page. Ad traffic sent to a homepage lands among links that pull people away from the offer they clicked on. Landing pages also make sense for a new service launch, a seasonal promotion such as Black Friday or back-to-school, an event with a deadline, or an audience that differs from the one your main site speaks to.

What do landing page design services include?

A complete project covers more than layout. It starts with offer clarity: who the page is for, what they get and what you want them to do. From there come the headline, the page structure, the copy, the call to action, trust signals, the design in your brand identity, the mobile experience, page speed and full tracking. On campaign pages the words carry as much weight as the visuals, so message and copy can be written within the project.

The page can live on your WordPress site as a dedicated template without the main navigation, or on a standalone landing page builder. Building on your site keeps everything on your domain and in one place; a dedicated tool can make it faster to spin up test variants. We recommend one or the other based on how many campaigns you run, who will edit the pages and the marketing tools you already use.

What makes a PPC landing page convert?

Message match comes first. The headline should continue what the ad promised, in close to the same words, so the visitor never wonders whether they landed in the right place. On a Google Ads landing page that means reflecting the search the person typed and the offer shown in the ad. Google also considers landing page experience when it evaluates ads, so a relevant, clear page helps the campaign as well as the visitor.

Above the fold, meaning the first screen before any scrolling, a visitor should find four things: a headline that states the offer, a line that says who it is for and why it matters, one specific call to action, and a visual that matches the ad creative. Menus, long company histories and secondary offers do not belong there. If someone has to scroll to learn what you are offering, many will leave instead.

Below that come benefits in your customer's words, answers to the obvious objections such as cost, timing and risk, and proof: real photos, genuine reviews and a short FAQ. Trust signals go where doubt happens, next to the form or the button, not buried at the bottom. Traffic source matters too. Search visitors are comparing options and want detail, while visitors from Meta, TikTok and YouTube arrive mid-scroll and need the offer and the button on the first screen.

How many form fields should a lead generation landing page have?

As few as your team needs to follow up well. Every extra field is friction, especially on a phone, so a lead generation landing page should ask only for what you will use in the first call or email. There is one honest exception: if you are buried in unqualified inquiries, a question about budget, timeline or service area can filter them, and fewer, stronger leads may be worth the trade.

Button copy should describe the outcome, such as Get my quote, not a generic Submit. Just as important is what happens next. Leads can be routed to email, your CRM or a messaging app such as WhatsApp, depending on what your tools support, so someone sees each inquiry right away. Decide before launch who answers leads and how quickly, because a fast page cannot make up for a slow reply.

Page speed on mobile belongs in the same conversation. Much paid traffic arrives on phones, often on a cellular connection, and a page that is slow to appear spends your ad budget before anyone reads the headline. We keep campaign pages light, and mobile speed and a working form are verified before a single ad goes live.

How do conversion tracking and landing page optimization work?

Without tracking you are guessing. We connect analytics and the pixel or tag each ad platform needs, whether that is Google, Meta, TikTok or YouTube, and set up conversion events for the actions that matter, such as a completed form. That is how you learn your real cost per lead, and how you tell a page problem from a targeting problem. Depending on where your visitors are, privacy laws may require a consent notice before some tracking runs; that is general information, not legal advice.

Landing page optimization is the work that follows. Alternate headlines or offers can be prepared as variants and tested against each other, one change at a time, so you know what caused a difference. Where it is useful we add heatmaps to see where visitors stop scrolling or abandon the form. A test needs enough traffic to mean anything, so low-volume campaigns are usually better served by fixing the obvious issues first.

After the campaign has run for a while, we review traffic and conversion data and recommend changes to the headline, offer or layout, within the agreed scope. The usual causes of a weak page are familiar: it says something different from the ad, it loads slowly on mobile, the offer is unclear on the first screen, or the form asks too much. Nobody can guarantee a conversion rate, but changes based on data beat changes based on opinion.

What drives the cost of a landing page, and how do you choose a landing page designer?

Cost depends on the length of the page, whether copywriting is included, how many variants or languages you need, how many audiences or offers need a page of their own, and integrations such as a CRM. Ad spend is a separate budget from the page itself. The final price follows the scope, because two campaigns with the same request rarely need the same scope. After a short call we send a written proposal with a defined scope, price and timeline.

When you compare landing page designers, look at how they think, not only at how their pages look. Do they start with the offer and the audience, or with a template? Do they write the copy or wait for you to supply it? Do they set up tracking and test the form, or hand over a design file? A provider who asks about your ad, your audience and your follow-up process before talking about colors understands what the page is for.

Check ownership too. The page, the domain, the analytics, the ad accounts and the lead data should stay in your name, with the provider working through access you grant. Be cautious with anyone who promises a specific conversion rate or lead count before seeing your offer and traffic. Those results depend on the ad, the audience, the offer and how fast your team responds, not on the page alone.

How does the process work, and how long does a landing page take?

The work runs in five steps. First we define the audience, the offer and the target action. Second comes message and structure: headline, benefits, objections and call to action. Third is design and build, fast and responsive, in your brand identity. Fourth is tracking: analytics, pixels and forms. Fifth, we launch, review performance and recommend improvements.

The project runs by email, shared folders and scheduled video calls arranged around your time zone. You send your brand files, photos, existing ad creative and access to the accounts involved, and we share drafts for your comments. One team covers strategy, content, design, websites and ads, so the page and the campaign can be planned together instead of by separate vendors.

A landing page usually takes less time than a full website, and the main variable is how ready the offer and content are. Before kickoff, be precise about what the customer gets, on what terms and until when, and gather real photos or video and genuine testimonials. For seasonal pushes, start early enough to test and adjust before the heaviest ad spend. The timeline is confirmed in the written proposal.
